Why sport is important for all children of all abilities

Taking part in community sport activities allows children to develop their fitness, self-esteem, confidence, friendship with their peers, and quality of life. The general guideline is at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous activities per day, i.e., activities making us ‘huff and puff’ for school-aged children under 18 years of age.

Let’s Talk about the 6 F-Words

Yes, I am going to talk about the F-words but they may not be the sort that you are thinking of. In 2011, Dr Peter Rosenbaum and Dr Jan William Gorter explained the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health Framework with 6 F-words focusing in childhood disability - Function, Family, Fitness, Fun, Friends, and Future.

Why Boredom Can Be Good

Most of Australia has been in and out of lockdown over the past 18 months, and with that we have seen kids being locked inside for long periods of time. We have no doubt that every parent during this time would have heard those (not so magic words) – “I’m BORED!”
